As the first dual-purpose road-rail bridge independently built by Chinese, the Qiantang River Bridge was built during wartime in Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province. Just 89 days after its opening in 1937, the bridge was destroyed to resist the southward advance of Japanese troops.
