The mayor of Augignac Bernard Bazinet posted a message on Facebook stating that "France is too youpine". An investigation was opened.
The Socialist Party announced on Tuesday the immediate exclusion of Bernard Bazinet, mayor of Augignac, after the publication on Facebook of a message with an insult to anti-Semitic. The comment was quickly deleted but widely relayed.
The Socialist Party ruled out on Tuesday 9 December the mayor of a small town in Dordogne for an anti-Semitic post on Israel's participation in Eurovision. "No explanation can be heard," the party explained, while the author acknowledges "a monumental bullshit".
Bernard Bazinet, 64-year-old Augignac's edile, had published a message under a Facebook publication of "Liberation" about Israel's participation in Eurovision. His party's management announced its exclusion on Tuesday 9 December.
His message, quickly removed, triggered a national outcry, leading to the opening of disciplinary proceedings in the Socialist Party and the filing of a complaint by LICRA.
