1,000,000 Signatures Reached for the Ban on Conversion Therapy

Conversion therapy is strictly prohibited only in eight countries of the European Union and may take the form of exorcism sessions, training courses or even electrochoke therapy.

The Commission should respond publicly to this request, which was signed by many representatives of culture and politics, such as the Belgian singer Angel and the former French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal.

The initiative, launched in France and with majority support in the neighbouring country, has achieved the minimum target of signatures just a few hours before the International Day against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia

After an important mobilisation this week, the petition has just reached its goal and will continue its journey at European Union level.

A million Europeans called for a ban on the "conversion therapies" of LGBT+ people on the continent on Friday, 16 May.
