The European Commission wanted to be optimistic when it unveiled its final assessment of the national energy-climate (Pnec) plans. And for this reason, the EU would now be able to reduce its net greenhouse gas emissions by 54% by 2030 compared to 1990, a figure closer than ever to the target of – 55%. But significant gaps remain, particularly in the transport, building and energy efficiency sectors.
