Ethereum’s Fusaka Upgrade Completes Final Hoodi Test Ahead of Mainnet Launch

The Fusaka upgrade, tested on three networks, reduces costs and bandwidth for validators and layer-2 networks, with mainnet launch expected by early December.

  • On Tuesday, the Ethereum Foundation's developers completed Fusaka's final dress rehearsal on the Hoodi testnet, marking the end of the three-testnet run and final simulation before mainnet activation.
  • Coming roughly six months after the Pectra upgrade, the Fusaka test aims to reduce validator and layer-2 network costs by passing code changes on the Hoodi testnet, according to Ethereum Foundation sources.
  • The Hoodi run launched around 18:53 UTC and executed code changes intended to boost scalability and cost-efficiency using testnets as replicas of mainnet to catch issues before deployment.
  • The Ethereum Foundation says mainnet activation will occur at least 30 days after today's test, putting the earliest tentative date at November 28, while developers finalize the activation date following internal review.
  • Planned proposals include proposer-builder separation as developers are already moving full steam ahead on the rollout process.
