Eric Adams Responds to Tom Homan’s ICE Deployment Comments Following CBP Shooting
NEW YORK CITY, JUL 21 – Homeland Security officials vow to increase Immigration and Customs Enforcement presence after an off-duty Border Patrol agent was shot by an alleged illegal alien, with arrests of 130,000 criminals cited.
- On Monday, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and Border Czar Tom Homan pledged to flood New York City with ICE and Border Patrol agents, following a July 19 attempted robbery shooting at Fort Washington Park.
- The suspect, Miguel Mora, is a 21-year-old Dominican Republic national who crossed illegally in 2023, and the agent was off duty and not in uniform.
- The agent returned fire, wounding one suspect, and `can only communicate now through hand gestures`, Noem noted.
- In a press conference Monday, Adams proposed analyzing leadership to confront the 'far left mindset', while saying `Don’t blame me, blame Cuomo`.
- Earlier this month, the White House attributed a surge in assaults against ICE agents to `dangerous, inflammatory rhetoric from Democrat politicians`, highlighting intensifying enforcement tensions.
