Gundersen is set to open Wisconsin's first Emergency Psychiatry Assessment, Treatment and Healing (EmPATH) behavioral health unit in La Crosse to address the rising need for mental health services in the region.

Emplify Health by Gundersen adding to mental health offerings

(WLAX/WEUX) – It was recently announced that Emplify will be adding an empath unit within its behavioral health department on the La Crosse campus. Empath stands for Emergency Psychiatric Assessment, Treatment and Healing, and officials say it is an alternative way to treat patients who are taken to the emergency room while in a mental health crisis. This unit will be the first of its kind in Wisconsin.
