Emirates Launches New Economy Class Headrest to Enhance In-Flight Sleep
The airline says the design is already on three A350s and will reach all 270 Boeing 777X aircraft on order.
- Emirates officially launched the U-Dream Headrest for Economy Class passengers on Monday, becoming the first airline globally to introduce this adjustable ergonomic support at scale.
- Developed with Safran Seats, the multiway adjustable leather headrest features padded wings that fold inward to cradle the neck, meeting European Union Aviation Safety Agency safety standards.
- Installation is already underway on three Airbus A350s, with the carrier planning to equip its entire A350 fleet by year-end and pre-install the feature on all 270 Boeing 777X aircraft on order.
- Emirates President Sir Tim Clark said the innovation "changes the game if the person wants to sleep" by fully supporting the neck, adding that "no more neck pillows" are needed.
- The upgrade represents a significant investment in the carrier's multibillion-dollar fleet refurbishment programme, aiming to bring ergonomic comfort typically reserved for premium cabins to Economy Class passengers.
