- Cloudflare said it was experiencing an internal service degradation that intermittently affected services and coincided with scheduled maintenance at SCL and Miami data centres on Tuesday.
- Users saw HTTP 500 errors and Cloudflare's dashboard and API failed, while Downdetector logged more than 7,000 reports by noon, impacting Spotify, Canva, PayPal, Letterboxd and League of Legends.
- Within two hours, Cloudflare engineers identified a fix, and by around 12.40pm some services were recovering, but customers may still see elevated error rates.
- The outage highlighted concerns about concentration of internet infrastructure, as Cloudflare serves over 26 million sites and a fifth of global websites, with VPN switches restoring access.
