Rep. Elise Stefanik Announces 2026 Run for New York Governor

On Friday, Rep. Elise Stefanik announced she is running for New York governor, formally challenging Gov. Kathy Hochul in the 2026 race.
After months of planning, Stefanik launched Save New York PAC and gained backing from state Republicans, Trump allies and major GOP donors, fueling her decision to run.

With the Nov. 3, 2026 election on the horizon, New Yorkers will pick their next governor in a 2026 gubernatorial contest with polls showing 43% and 42% figures, reflecting an uncertain electorate.
