Turkey, Spain, Italy and Greece monitor an aid flotilla carrying activists and parliamentarians amid tensions and threats to breach Israel's Gaza naval blockade, officials said.
- On Monday, Turkey joined Spain, Italy and Greece in monitoring an international flotilla sailing east across the Mediterranean despite warnings from Israel.
- The Global Sumud Flotilla consists of civilian boats carrying parliamentarians, lawyers and activists including Swedish climate campaigner Greta Thunberg, organisers said the boats vowed to breach an Israeli naval blockade.
- Flight tracking websites showed three long-endurance drones from Turkey's Corlu airbase circling the boats for three days, and a drone attack last week damaged some boats.
- Naval escorts from Italy and Spain are prepared for rescue or humanitarian needs but not combat, and Italy urged diverting aid to Cyprus for distribution by the Roman Catholic Church.
