Drivers caught driving under the influence will always receive a temporary twelve-hour driving ban starting in July. This is stated in a legislative amendment published in the Official Gazette, reports the Federal Public Service Mobility and Transport.

From July onwards, drivers caught in flagrante delicto of driving in a state of drunkenness will be systematically prohibited from driving for a period of 12 hours. This is what is foreseen by a legislative amendment published in the Belgian Monitor, announced Tuesday the Federal Public Service Mobility and Transport. At present, temporary bans on driving after a positive alcohol test can still last two, three, six or twelve hours.
