- On Thursday, the Defence Research and Development Organisation and the Indian Air Force successfully conducted the maiden flight-trial of the Tactical Advanced Range Augmentation weapon off the coast of Odisha.
- Designed by Research Centre Imarat and DRDO, TARA is India's first modular glide weapon system capable of converting unguided warheads into precision-guided munitions for ground-based targets.
- Defence Minister Rajnath Singh noted the government has prioritized defence research, with DRDO already transferring 2,200 technologies to industry partners who have utilized over Rs 4,500 crore of the allocated budget.
- Rajnath Singh congratulated the DRDO, IAF, and industry teams for the successful trial, describing the maiden flight as a significant step in advancing India's indigenous defence capabilities.
