Ahmet Y. (54) Kidnapped Toddler (1) From Bed, but Denies Sexual Abuse: 'I Was Quite Confused'

He heard a child crying and thought it was in need. That is why 54-year-old Ahmet Y. from Amersfoort entered a house in Barneveld on the night of 9 to 10 August 2024 at around 5 a.m., took a one-and-a-half-year-old toddler out of his bed and took him with him. "If I notice that someone is in need, I immediately offer help. And I thought that help was needed here." He vehemently denies that he sexually abused the child afterwards.

The Public Prosecution Service has demanded a prison sentence of four years and TBS with compulsory treatment against 54-year-old Ahmet Y. for kidnapping and sexually abusing a child of one and a half years in Barneveld. "A nightmare, a horror scenario," the public prosecutor said Friday in court in Arnhem.
