Delhi Metro to Add 6 Trains and 24 Trips Every Monday
DMRC will add six trains to run 24 extra trips each Monday as it prepares for higher passenger demand.
Starting tomorrow, May 18, 2026, The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation will add 24 train trips weekly, deploying six extra trains across the Red, Yellow, Blue, Pink, and Violet lines to manage rising passenger demand.
Earlier this week, Rekha Gupta launched the 90-day 'Mera Bharat, Mera Yogdan' fuel conservation campaign, following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's appeal to curb private travel amid global energy uncertainties.
To manage increased capacity, the DMRC is deploying additional security personnel, activating spare baggage scanners, and opening more ticketing counters, while passengers are urged to download the 'Metro Sarthi' application.
The Delhi Transport Corporation operates around 1,500 buses providing last-mile services at 52 metro stations, while parking facilities at 126 stations across Delhi-NCR encourage commuters to shift from personal vehicles.
DMRC will closely monitor passenger demand throughout the day to introduce additional trips as needed, with digital ticketing options including WhatsApp and PhonePe available to support efficient commuter movement.
