CyberRatings.org and NSS Labs Announce 2025 Enterprise Firewall Test Results
Check Point's firewall achieved 99.59% security effectiveness, outperforming six others tested by NSS Labs in a comprehensive evaluation of enterprise firewall products.
- Yesterday, CyberRatings.org released NSS Labs' Enterprise Firewall test results in Austin, covering seven products with reports available free on CyberRatings.org.
- Rising encryption rates highlighted more than 95% of global web traffic is encrypted, while AI-driven cyber threats accelerate attacks, driving demand for a prevention-first security approach.
- The methodology subjected firewalls to 3,326 exploits, 11,311 malware samples, 5,752 evasion techniques across 53 evasion categories, 6,481 false-positive samples and 55 performance tests using Keysight's CyPerf tool, requiring operational resilience.
- The report found a wide performance gap as Security Effectiveness ranged from 46.37% to 99.59%, average exploit and malware block rates exceeded 96%, yet three vendors failed critical evasion tests and only three of seven earned Recommended.
- The findings position vendors and buyers because NSS Labs noted that CISA KEV data indicated Check Point Software Technologies Ltd., network security firewall vendor, experienced only 1 exploited vulnerability, reducing enterprise risk.
