Tom Cruise Looks Unrecognisable in First 'Digger' Trailer
Cruise previewed the footage for press and fans as the film’s trailer launch builds momentum for its Oct. 2 theatrical release.
On Monday, Warner Bros. released the first trailer for 'Digger,' featuring Tom Cruise as an unrecognizable oil baron directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu. The film marks their first collaboration.
Director Iñárritu filmed 'Digger' using 1954 VistaVision cameras and custom Leica lenses alongside cinematographer Emmanuel 'Chivo' Lubezki, marking the director's first English-language film since 'The Revenant.'
Cruise stars as Digger Rockwell, an oil baron sporting a pot belly and combover, whose company faces an ecological crisis threatening nuclear war. The role required extensive physical transformation.
Warner Bros. scheduled the film for October 2 release, marking Cruise's first project with the studio since his January 2024 development deal. The studio positions it as a prestige awards contender.
Cruise described the performance as the culmination of his 40-year career, drawing on lessons from master filmmakers including Martin Scorsese and cinematographer Owen Roizman. Every production detail was intentionally crafted.
