On Wednesday, Major League Soccer announced its 29-man All-Star roster, featuring Canadian national team players Orlando City goalkeeper Maxime Crepeau and Toronto FC defender Richie Laryea.
Thirteen World Cup participants from eight countries comprise the squad, which will face a team of LIGA MX all-stars in Charlotte, North Carolina, on July 29.
Charlotte FC head coach Dean Smith selected 13 players, while MLS commissioner Don Garber chose two, adding stars like American goalkeeper Matt Freese, Croatian forward Petar Musa, and Lionel Messi.
Vancouver Whitecaps midfielder Sebastian Berhalter and Bayern Munich legend Thomas Muller also earned spots, joining Charlotte FC defender Tim Ream among the league's top performers honored this month.
With a record 45 players participating in the recent FIFA World Cup, this exhibition match highlights the league's growing international talent pool and global competitiveness.
