Court dismisses government’s application on Mec’s relocation to Blantyre case
By Mercy Matonga: The High Court in Lilongwe has rejected a government application seeking to lift a stay of proceedings in a case challenging the proposed relocation of the Malawi Electoral Commission (Mec) from Lilongwe to Blantyre. This is according to a ruling by Justice Kenyatta Nyirenda dated 20 August 2026. The ruling follows an application by the defendants to set aside the stay of proceedings.
