Inmate found dead in SD State Penitentiary

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) - An inmate of the S.D. State Penitentiary has been found dead. According to a press release from the South Dakota DOC, 36-year-old Leo Plenty Arrows died on Friday from an apparent suicide. Plenty Arrows was found unresponsive in his cell at the Jameson Annex, he was later pronounced dead at a Sioux Falls hospital. Plenty Arrows was serving a sentence for simple assault on law enforcement from Pennington County.

A prisoner at HMP Holme House in Stockton was found dead 90 minutes after he told his girlfriend he would take his own life.
