Evo insists on running for President of Bolivia despite reelection limits

Despite a ruling from Bolivia's Plurinational Constitutional Tribunal (TCP) banning him due to reelection limits, former President Evo Morales (2006-19) is pushing forward with his bid for the Aug. 17 elections. He has yet to explain how he plans to overcome the legal barriers to his candidacy and has already admitted he does not have a Plan B.

According to Telesur, this decision reflects the party’s commitment to the renewal of leadership and the inclusion of new voices in the Bolivian political landscape, Telesur reports. The congress, held at the Chuquiago Marka Fair Camp in La Paz, was attended by 111 social organizations affiliated with the Unity Pact, and the presence of President Luis Arce and Vice President David Choquehuanca.
