Commuters warned of 'major disruption' to train services
Barry Kenny said up to 20,000 commuters could be affected as repairs continue after overhead lines were damaged in Raheny.
On Wednesday, June 24, 2026, Irish Rail warned of major disruption to northside DART and commuter services following overhead line damage in the Raheny to Harmonstown area.
Corporate Communications Barry Kenny explained that repairs were deferred Tuesday evening to accommodate 20,000 concert-goers leaving Malahide Castle, with only one track remaining operational.
Kenny stated the damage occurred around 8:30pm Tuesday, adding, "Our crews were not able to commence work until 1.30am and the work is ongoing at the moment."
Commuters face service cancellations between Malahide, Howth, and Clontarf Road, while Enterprise passengers require bus transfers between Dublin Connolly and Drogheda with Leap cards valid on TFI services.
Investigations into the cause of the damage are ongoing, and Irish Rail cannot yet confirm when the line will reopen, apologizing for the inconvenience caused.
