Grocery Chain Pulls More Products as Salmonella-Linked Recall Grows
The recall covers multiple products after regulators linked 345 Salmonella cases in 27 states to jalapeño peppers from Coast Citrus Distributors.
NatureBest Precut & Produce LLC, based in Missouri City and Houston, Texas, is recalling various products containing jalapeño peppers due to a Salmonella outbreak affecting multiple states.
Coast Citrus Distributors notified NatureBest that jalapeño peppers were contaminated, prompting the recall. Federal authorities are investigating Salmonella Javiana infections linked to peppers from Sinaloa, Mexico.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports 345 people across 27 states have been infected. Recalled products were distributed to retailers in Texas and Louisiana between July 3 and August 5.
Symptoms of Salmonella infection, including diarrhea and fever, typically appear within 12 to 72 hours after consuming contaminated food. Anyone who ate these products and developed symptoms should contact a doctor.
Infants, seniors, and people with weakened immune systems face higher risks of severe, life-threatening complications. Some infected individuals may carry the bacteria without symptoms yet still spread it to others.
