Illinois Valley Quilts of Valor honors 10 veterans at Princeton ceremony
Ten veterans were honored during a Quilts of Valor ceremony on Saturday at the Moose Lodge in Princeton. The quilts each take 100 hours to make. In 2003, quilter Catherine Roberts started the movement that became Quilts of Valor when her son was deployed in Iraq. Since that time, more than 401,361 have been awarded. Clearwater County veterans Carolyn Sundbom, Caren Smith and Jane Mersey Merschman received Quilts of Valor at a recent meeting of the Bagley American Legion Irvin Blix Post 16.
