Claude Cowork Lands on Web and Mobile to Handle the Office Work You Hate Doing

Anthropic said the AI agent will keep working without an active desktop session and will roll out first to Max subscribers, starting at $100 a month.

  • On Tuesday, Anthropic announced that Claude Cowork, its AI agent designed to perform digital tasks, is expanding beyond the Desktop app to mobile and web platforms for the first time.
  • Previously, Cowork required an active Desktop connection, meaning tasks stopped if a user closed their laptop; now, tasks run in the cloud by default, allowing users to continue work without keeping devices awake.
  • Anthropic reports over 90% of Cowork usage involves everyday business operations, such as content creation; the beta rollout begins with Max subscribers at $100 a month, before expanding to Pro users at $20 a month.
  • While mobile and web access allows users to track progress from anywhere, the Desktop app retains the "full experience," including exclusive local file access that mobile versions cannot provide.
  • Alongside Cowork, Anthropic is extending its doubled usage limits through Aug 5th; the company plans to unify Cowork with Claude, providing a single interface for computer-related tasks across devices.
