Chinese chess rocked by cheating rumours, bad behaviour scandal
The winner of a Xiangqi tournament, Yan Chenglong, has been stripped of his title and banned from playing for a year by the Chinese Xiangqi Association after allegations of inappropriate behavior and cheating using anal beads.
The CXA stated that it is impossible to prove accusations of cheating via anal beads. Yan had consumed alcohol, damaged hotel property, and violated public order and good morals. The association did not disclose the amount of prize money Yan forfeited.
Xiangqi, a popular game in Asia for centuries, will continue to face allegations and controversies surrounding cheating and misconduct.
