China's Li flushes toilet trouble at Masters
Haotong Li fired a five-under 67 and moved into contention after saying he spent Thursday night in the restroom.
Chinese golfer Haotong is contending at the Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club, reaching six-under par during the third round on Saturday to pressure leader Rory McIlroy.
After a rough Thursday night, Haotong endured a debilitating stomach illness that nearly forced him to withdraw Friday morning; he described feeling "fuzzy" and "living in the toilet" before rebounding.
Firing a five-under 67 on Friday, Haotong rebounded dramatically with two early birdies at the second and third holes on Saturday to reach six-under par and mount pressure on McIlroy.
Positioned to surpass his best finish at the Masters, Haotong will play alongside world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler during Sunday's final round at Augusta National.
A strong finish would mark Haotong's best major performance, potentially eclipsing his fourth-place result at the Open Championship at Royal Portrush last year.
