China reached its renewable energy goal six years ahead of schedule. The country added 25 gigawatts of wind turbines and solar panels in July, bringing the total capacity to 1206 gigawatts, reported the National Energy Administration (NEA), which is responsible for energy policy in China. In December 2020, Chinese President Xi Jinping set the goal of generating at least 1,200 gigawatts from renewable energy sources by 2030.
