Four Bai family mafia members were executed for leading a $4.2 billion telecom scam network in Myanmar that caused six Chinese deaths, part of China's crackdown on cross-border fraud.

- Bai clan established 41 compounds in Myanmar's Kokang region running casinos and telecom scam operations backed by a militia involving kidnappings and drug trafficking.
- The Shenzhen court sentenced five people, including Bai Suocheng, to death in November, and the Guangdong Provincial High People's Court dismissed their appeals, the court said.
- Beijing framed the executions as part of a wider crackdown on scam parks in Southeast Asia, where regional authorities face mounting pressure from China, the United States and others; 11 other accused operators were announced last week.
- Court officials described the offences as `exceptionally heinous`, with serious consequences posing a tremendous threat, while state media documentaries emphasised authorities' resolve to eradicate scam networks.
