After a nearly complete failure in the previous year, there are again more domestic cherries in Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt this year. However, high prices and imported goods make them a cost issue.
In the summer of 2025, cherries became more expensive than ever, with extra-quality fruit fetching up to 4,500 forints per kilo in the markets. The reasons are frost, weather damage, and falling harvests.
