B.C., Saskatchewan among provinces where contaminated salami was sold
CANADA, JUL 19 – The recall affects 67 salami and cacciatore products linked to a multi-drug resistant Salmonella outbreak that has sickened 86 people and hospitalized nine, officials said.
- On July 19, 2025, Health Canada announced a recall of over 60 salami and cacciatore products due to possible salmonella contamination across six provinces.
- The recall was extended after contaminated salami and cacciatore products were found to have been sold across six provinces, including Alberta, Saskatchewan, Quebec, Manitoba, Ontario, and British Columbia.
- Eighty-Seven people have fallen ill after consuming contaminated lunch meats, mostly salami in sandwiches or deli counters, with nine hospitalizations reported and no deaths.
- Health Canada stated that salmonella symptoms include fever, nausea, diarrhea, stomach cramps, headache, and chills, and advised consumers to discard or return affected products.
