TRAVEL IN FRANCE 8/8. The Centre Pompidou was built in 1977. Today, it is inseparable from the cultural and architectural identity of Paris. From 2025 to 2030, the Centre Pompidou will close its doors for extensive renovation work. A very long hiatus that upsets Oliver Meiler, Swiss journalist for the Bavarian daily newspaper, Süddeutsche Zeitung.
By the end of the construction project in 2030 at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the Bpi is taking its neighbourhoods at the foot of the Bercy Park. By always playing a "documentary, cultural and social role" and also conducting "experiments" with regard to young people in particular, says its director, Christine Carrier.
