Centre Eases LPG Supply Curbs for Industries as Situation Improves
The government restored non-domestic packed LPG supplies and eased bulk allocations by 50% as improved production and imports reduced pressure on the market.
The Central Government announced a major relaxation of supply restrictions on Non-Domestic Packed Liquefied Petroleum Gas across India, restoring commercial availability to pre-disruption levels following the West Asia crisis.
Emergency measures previously implemented under the Essential Commodities Act diverted C3-C4 hydrocarbon streams exclusively to LPG production, causing feedstock shortages for petrochemical industries during global supply chain disruptions.
Commercial and industrial consumers will now receive bulk LPG supplies amounting to 50 per cent of pre-crisis levels, while indigenous LPG production remains maintained at not less than 40 thousand metric tonnes per day.
The Centre for High Technology under the Ministry will manage organisation-wise allocations of additional C3-C4 streams, ensuring balanced distribution for petrochemical companies and priority sectors.
Expanded Piped Natural Gas connectivity remains a priority as The Secretary requested cooperation from Chief Secretaries of all States and Union Territories to implement revised supply arrangements.
