Car industry sounds warning as electric car sales stall
The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders warned that UK electric vehicle sales have stalled below 18%, causing concerns about meeting government mandates.
SMMT Chief Executive Mike Hawes mentioned serious market growth issues, stating that September's EV performance does not meet mandated targets.
To stimulate sales, SMMT recommended government incentives, such as halving VAT on new electric vehicles and reducing VAT on public charging.
