CAF slams Senegal and Morocco with suspensions and multi-million rand fines
- On Thursday, CAF's disciplinary board suspended coach Pape Thiaw for five matches and fined him $100,000, while imposing two-match bans on forwards Iliman Ndiaye and Ismaila Sarr.
- Earlier this month, chaotic scenes in the Africa Cup of Nations final against hosts Morocco included a coach-led walk-off after a disallowed goal, causing a 14-minute stoppage.
- Following the incidents, the governing body fined Senegalese Football Federation $615,000 and said the coach's conduct was `unsporting` and brought `the game into disrepute`.
- The bans apply only to CAF matches and will not impact World Cup preparations in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, while Morocco's bid to overturn the match result was dismissed by the disciplinary committee.
- Senegal said it plans to appeal the ruling before a CAF commission or the Court of Arbitration for Sport, and Senegal's sports minister vowed to mitigate the sanction after their stoppage-time win.
