NPO seriously overhauled: knife in number of broadcasters, member limit off the table
The public broadcaster is undergoing a major overhaul. Minister Eppo Bruins (Media, NSC) wants to abolish the member requirement of at least 100,000 members, so that members become less important for the survival of a broadcaster. He also wants to curb his own authority to intervene via the supervisor and wants to strengthen the role for the ombudsman. Bruins wants to abolish minimum broadcasting members, no new broadcasters
Minister Eppo Bruins of Education, Culture and Science (NSC) wants the minimum number of members for broadcasters to no longer be important for the continued existence of a broadcaster. Insiders confirmed this after reporting by the AD. For the time being, no new broadcasters will be added. In addition, the existing broadcasters must unite in four or five broadcasting houses.
