Byju’s Founder Loses Bid to Overturn Singapore Jail Sentence
Singapore's High Court refused to halt Byju Raveendran's six-month jail sentence for contempt of court, meaning he risks imprisonment if he returns to Singapore.
The sentence was initially given in May and had a temporary stay which was declined by the court on July 9.
Byju Raveendran is not currently in Singapore, and the court stated the order only applies if he enters Singapore.
Raveendran faces multiple ongoing legal claims globally, including from investors, lenders in the US, and a subsidiary of Qatar Investment Authority in Singapore.
