- BYD is doubling down on European markets to drive growth this year, capitalizing on surging electric vehicle demand as fuel prices spiked following the Middle East conflict.
- China's electric vehicle leader sold 456,253 vehicles overseas through the first four months of 2026, including 135,000 last month, up 70% from April 2025 and outselling Tesla and Kia in the UK.
- Meanwhile, Ford is in advanced talks with Volvo owner Geely to sell part of its Valencia, Spain plant, while Stellantis discusses transferring its Figuruelas facility to Leapmotor International's Spanish subsidiary.
- BYD began trial production in Hungary earlier this year and expects to open a $1 billion plant in Turkey by year-end, while expanding its Denza luxury sub-brand to 30 countries this year.
