One security source in Tapoa province said an army detachment from the main city of Diapaga was targeted in a "violent attack" on Friday. The victims were regular army soldiers and civilian volunteers, while there were "many wounded", the source added.

Located in eastern Burkina Faso, the military camp in the city of Diapaga was stormed by an armed terrorist group on the afternoon of Friday, 28 March. While the human balance is very heavy – some 50 of the soldiers and their replacements of the Volunteers for the Defence of the Homeland (VDP) – the army also lost weapons and ammunition in the attack. After recovering some of them, the attackers set fire to the rest of the equipment.
