Building collapse in Linton causes road closure
LINTON, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) - No one was injured when a building collapsed in downtown Linton Monday night, but three cars were heavily damaged. According to Linton Mayor John Preble the back wall of the old "Murphy's Building" or more recently known as the "Variety Store" fell in and that caused the roof to collapse. No Injuries Reported in Linton Building Collapse
IN-DOT says State Road 59 in Linton is closed due to Monday’s collapse of the former G.C. Murphy Building in downtown Linton. No injuries were reported, however 3 to 4 vehicles parked nearby were damaged. The building is considered a total loss and due to safety concerns demolition is underway. The Linton Fire Department asks everyone to cooperate and stay clear of the area until the structure is razed, and the roadways reopened.
