Bodies of 2 paddleboarders who fell into B.C. lake have been recovered, RCMP say
A coordinated search by multiple agencies ended after the pair vanished while paddleboarding and did not resurface, police said.
- On Tuesday, The RCMP Underwater Recovery Team recovered two bodies from Browning Lake in Murrin Provincial Park, concluding a search that began Saturday after the paddleboarders went missing.
- Sky RCMP reported two people fell from their paddleboard on Saturday around 3 p.m., failing to resurface after entering the water on Browning Lake.
- A co-ordinated response involving Squamish Search, Conservation Officer Service, Squamish Fire Rescue, Emergency Health Services, and RCMP Air One launched immediately following the report.
- Murrin Provincial Park closed to the public Saturday evening for the police investigation; the lake sits off Highway 99 between Britannia Beach and Squamish.
- Staff Sgt. expressed gratitude for the dedicated support and co-ordinated efforts of specialized teams and Rescue agencies who assisted in the search and recovery operation.
