The bank expects approval in October as it prepares to offer Bitcoin, Ether and stablecoin custody to institutional clients.

  • On Wednesday, Deutsche Bank announced plans to launch regulated digital asset custody services for institutional and corporate clients in Europe later this year, pending final regulatory approval.
  • Deutsche Bank, a Global Systemically Important Bank, first revealed these plans in 2023 through a partnership with Taurus after applying for its custody license in Germany.
  • Initial support includes Bitcoin, Ether, and select stablecoins like Circle USDC, EURC, and AllUnity EUR, with plans to expand into tokenized financial instruments later.
  • Spokesperson Heinrich told Cointelegraph the bank expects to receive the license under the MiCA framework in October, following the July 1 enforcement date.
  • Other German banks are also offering similar solutions; Landesbank Baden-W started offering crypto custody after partnering with Austria-based Bitpanda in 2024.
