- On Dec 4, UBS published its Billionaire Ambitions Report, saying 91 people inherited wealth totaling $298 billion in the 12 months to April.
- Drawing on client surveys and a 47-market database, UBS executive Benjamin Cavalli said the report forecasts $5.9 trillion to be inherited by billionaire children over the next 15 years.
- Most inheritance growth is set to take place in the US, with India, France, Germany and Switzerland next, while billionaires prefer Switzerland, the UAE, the US and Singapore and younger billionaires remain highly mobile.
- In Switzerland, voters on Sunday rejected a proposed 50 per cent tax on inherited fortunes of US$62 million or more, with Swiss voters opposing the plan by 78 per cent as UBS forecasts US$206 billion will be inherited in 15 years.
