BIHAR, INDIA, AUG 1 – The Bihar government doubled honorariums for cooks, night watchmen, and instructors, raising monthly payments up to Rs 16,000 to improve morale before the 2025 elections.
- On Friday, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced doubling honorariums for cooks, night watchmen, and instructors, including Rs 3,300 for cooks and Rs 16,000 for instructors.
- Rolling out welfare schemes, the Nitish Kumar government earlier announced that Bihar Assembly elections are expected later this year, with no official dates announced by the Election Commission of India.
- Highlighting the rationale, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said `Cooks, night watchmen, and physical education and health instructors have played an important role in strengthening the education system in the state...` and doubled their annual increments from Rs 200 to Rs 400.
- Kumar said it will boost the morale of the working staff and prompt greater enthusiasm and dedication in their duties, benefiting thousands of education sector workers.
