Bibee Shines as Guardians Snap Marlins’ Home-Series Streak with a 4-1 Win
Steven Kwan drove in two runs and made a run-saving play as Cleveland ended Miami’s six-series home streak.
On Saturday, July 11, the Cleveland Guardians defeated the Miami Marlins 4-1, clinching the series in Miami. Starting pitcher Tanner Bibee earned the win after throwing 6 2/3 solid innings.
Bibee, who began the season 0-7 with six no-decisions, improved to 3-9 with this quality start. The right-hander allowed five hits and four walks while striking out three.
Steven Kwan lined a two-out, two-run double in the fourth inning to break the scoreless tie. Patrick Bailey added a two-run double in the eighth to extend Cleveland's lead.
Defensively, Kwan made a stellar sliding catch on a foul fly in the eighth inning. The loss marked Miami's first series defeat since mid-June at Philadelphia.
