Dutch Road Safety Association Is Disappointed with 'Life-Threatening' Bicycle Artwork

Veilig Verkeer Nederland (VVN) is not happy with the statue of Lonneke in Veghel. The 3.6-metre-high artwork of the cycling lady with her hands loose on the handlebars shows life-threatening traffic behaviour, according to the traffic organisation. “Cycling without hands is something you only do in the circus.” Two weeks ago, Lonneke, the first of ten cycling artworks, was unveiled along the F50, a fast cycle route between Veghel and Uden.
