Apple to shift some Mac Mini production to Houston from Asia, WSJ reports
Apple will start assembling Mac mini desktops in Houston later in 2026, expanding AI server production and training with a $600 billion U.S. investment plan.
- On Monday, Apple Inc. said it will begin assembling some Mac mini units at a Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. facility in north Houston, Texas later this year, converting roughly 220,000 square feet of warehouse into production lines.
- Last year, Apple pledged a $600 billion U.S. investment commitment amid tariff pressure including a 25% threat on overseas-made products.
- Tim Cook said `Apple is deeply committed to the future of American manufacturing, and we’re proud to significantly expand our footprint in Houston with the production of Mac mini starting later this year` and plans to open a 20,000-square-foot Advanced Manufacturing Center later this year.

- With Apple set to announce products around March 4, any meaningful reshoring will likely be gradual and targeted, arriving just hours before the State of the Union.
