Apple's First Touchscreen MacBook Pro Heads to Market in Weeks
The launch would add OLED displays, M6 chips and a new iPad mini as Apple targets creative professionals, Bloomberg reported.
Apple plans a late-October event for its first touchscreen MacBook, according to Bloomberg. The launch is scheduled for "on or around" Tuesday, October 27.
For over a decade, Apple executives have rejected touchscreen laptops, citing ergonomic concerns. Current CEO John Ternus previously argued that lifting arms to poke a screen is "ergonomically terrible" and "fatiguing."
The potential MacBook Ultra will come in 14 and 16-inch sizes with OLED displays and Dynamic Island technology. Devices target "creative professionals who work in video production, photo editing and music production," Bloomberg reported.
This marks Apple's second product launch this month, following an October 13 smart home showcase. New CEO John Ternus, who replaced Tim Cook in September, appears to be accelerating Apple's hardware release schedule.
Beyond October's launches, Apple plans additional Mac and iPad releases for the first half of next year. The company aims to refresh its existing lineup, including updates to the iMac and iPad Mini.
Bloomberg reported that Apple would present on October 27 a MacBook Pro with OLED touchscreen and an iPad mini with OLED. Apple has not confirmed it and the report contradicts previous reports of a 2027 delay.
