- Because Apple does not hold encryption keys, complying would require redesigning the service. The company stopped new British users from enabling Advanced Data Protection while challenging the order.
- Ruth Ehrlich, director of external relations at Liberty, warned the case has "far-reaching implications for the public's privacy rights" and that "opening a backdoor" risks personal data.
- A British government spokesperson declined to comment on individual legal proceedings but stated law enforcement must access communications to "protect the public from terrorism, serious crime, and child sexual abuse.
