Bucharest, Romania (AP) — Children in Romania took part in a series of events marking International Children’s Day at the Palace of Parliament in Bucharest on Sunday.
On June 1, Romania laughed. Or at least, 424 children did. In corners forgotten by the map, where Santa Claus rarely comes and Children's Day is more of an echo than a celebration, RoOmenia volunteers drew smiles. With bags of sweets, with simple words, with presence.
In Romania's protection system there are 36,000 children looking forward to the time when they will say "home".
